Things to consider when listing yourself in a directory

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

If you have a small business, and if you want to list your business in an Internet directory, then there are some factors that you need to consider before listing. The first and foremost one to consider is the directory’s Page Rank. If the directory has a good PR then you can rely on the directory and can submit your website for listing.

Another factor that plays a major role in listing is the directory’s age. The more the number of years of establishment, the more clients you will get. So, you should try to list your business in a Business and Service Directory, which exists in the World Wide Web for some considerable years.

The third factor that you need to consider is the category in, which your business is being listed. You should list yourself only when other businesses from your own field are listed in the directory. If you are in the Credit resources business, and if you are listed in the Debt resources and information, then you will get only spam from the directory. So, make sure that you are listed in the appropriate category.

Marketing resources available in the directory will recommend getting inbound links from various websites with high PR. If you have a link of a website with high PR, then yours will also benefit from the increased traffic. So, it is always good to have some inbound links in your website.
