A Gift of Old Coins

My dad has been collecting old silver coins ever since he was a kid. He said that his own dad (my grandpa) used to do the same and it seems that the hobby was genetic. He gave me his collection, when I decided to move out off the house to start living independently. I know that the choice I made was a tough one, but I want to do things on my own. My dad parted his collection with me and told me to use them “only as a last resort”. I didn’t understand what he meant and he explained it to me. I didn’t know that I can sell old coins for a good price.

The discovery led me to asking a few questions that my dad answered with sincerity. He told me that he used some of his collection to help him finish his studies years ago. He said that selling old silver coins must be done out of necessity and not by need. I thanked him for his gift and promised that I will use it wisely. My mom calls me almost everyday to check on how things are going. I am doing well in school and I decided to find a good job after I finish my studies.
