The serial USB adapter is quite simple to use than serial card. All you need to do is just connect the serial adapter to the USB port of your computer and your computer will detect it and you can start connecting serial devices to it. A layman can also install a serial USB adapter, whereas serial card need assistance of a technician. But the purpose solved by both of them is common i.e. providing your computer with extra serial port.
